Pawsome Holidays
The idea of waving your dog goodbye at the kennels is a thing of the past and with the revival of the staycation British holiday, it's a time for a dog-friendly getaway. It's certainly a dog's life in the market town of Keswick and its surrounding areas, Keswick has been awarded "The Dog Most Friendly Town" in Britain three years in a row by the Kennel Club. The town centre is full of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops that welcome dogs, offering treats and water bowls. Local attractions also open their doors for canine clientele so you can have fun, dog-friendly days out.

Of course, walking is the ultimate favourite dog activity and there are lots of options to suit every dog from the most active ones to the lazy loafers, who like an easy life! Whether you want to climb the highest peaks, seek out the best views, walk along the lakeshore or explore the forests and woodlands, the Royal Oak with its idyllic location in the Borrowdale Valley has doorstep access to the best display of fell walking in the Lake District.
We like to think we are 5 paws out of 5 for dog-friendly accommodation, all well-behaved doggies are welcome and water bowls are also available. Dogs are allowed throughout the hotel, including your room, bar and lounge, however, we do not allow dogs in the front dining room but if you would like to keep your dog with you whilst you eat, you are more than welcome to dine in the back farmhouse dining room.
There is a one off charge of only £30 per stay, much cheaper than the kennels! But please let us know in advance if you are bringing your doggy.
