Bedrooms
At the Royal Oak, our bedrooms are inspired by the surrounding Lake District landscape and heritage, each with its own unique character and charm.
All beds have individually sprung mattresses and hypoallergenic duvets and pillows. Tea/coffee making facilities, en-suite, toiletries, free WiFi and either a view of the beck and fells, the village and fells or the courtyard. We also have several rooms which are dog-free.

Executive and Deluxe Class
Upgrade from only £10 a night. Our Executive Class range features larger spaces and elegant furnishings. You can choose from Twin, Triple or Quad rooms. The Deluxe Triple rooms consist of a king bed (can be made up as a twin or double) and a sofa bed. Our large Quad room sleeps four people in adjoining rooms, one double and one twin (extra supplement for this room).
The Wordsworth Room – Superior Room
Inspired by the timeless beauty of the Lake District and its most celebrated poet, The Wordsworth Room offers a spacious and elegant retreat. This superior room features a charming annex area with a beautiful writing desk, creating the perfect space to unwind, reflect, or plan your next Lakeland adventure. The annex also serves as a stylish dressing area, adding an extra touch of comfort and luxury to your stay, with a lovely view overlooking the beck.
The Derwent Room – Superior Room
Named after the stunning nearby Derwentwater, The Derwent Room is a spacious superior room designed with relaxation in mind. Featuring a comfortable annex area complete with a table and chairs, it provides the ideal spot to sit back and recharge after a day spent exploring the surrounding fells, lakes and valleys. Combining comfort, character and extra space. The Derwent Room is a wonderful base for your Lake District escape, with a lovely view overlooking the beck.
The Rydal Room – Four-Poster Room
Our romantic four-poster bedroom, known as The Rydal Room, named after the tranquil beauty of Rydal Water. With its elegant décor, stunning four-poster bed, and comfortable seating area, overlooking the beck, it provides the perfect setting for a relaxing Lake District escape. The room also features a beautiful fireplace, adding character and charm, along with a spacious bathroom complete with a separate bath and shower, offering everything you need to unwind in comfort after a day exploring the fells and lakes.
The Herdwick Room - Superior Room
The Herdwick Room, celebrating Cumbria's iconic Herdwick sheep. Featuring luxurious soft furnishings, beautiful sheepskin throws, and warm country-inspired touches, the room perfectly captures the charm and character of the Lake District countryside. A comfortable seating area provides the perfect place to relax, while windows at either end of the room offer views overlooking the beck on one side and the courtyard on the other. This versatile room can be configured as either a double kingsize or a twin and is reserved for guests with no dogs.
